Izu’s coastal towns and beaches are spread along winding roads that hug the shoreline, making a car the most flexible way to explore at your own pace and stop at viewpoints or small fishing towns along the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Atami and Ito on the east coast are known for their onsen and sea views, while the southern tip around Shimoda offers beaches and a more laid-back atmosphere. Inland, the Amagi mountains add waterfalls and hiking trails to the mix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
